If anyone hasn't heard of Brian Kernighan, they should not be allowed to touch a computer let alone use the internet. The guy wrote "Hello Word" for god sake - bet he wishes he got a patent on that one...
If you don't own at least one (and preferably more than one) book with Alfred Aho listed as an author then you can't call yourself a computer scientist or even programmer. Anyone who would read a blog entry on awk, has to know that name. And if you only have one it shouldn't be a dragon book it should be The Design and Analysis of Computer Algorithms
Peter Weinberger was the only name that I could understand not being familiar with - outside of Bell Labs (and I guess Google now) he hasn't done a lot of public stuff other than awk. But his face ended up everywhere...
