Minority Report - 2002-08-11 20:41:38

A fun popcorn flick. The ending sucks but the 'vision' of the future is interesting. Sadly it could have been a far better film but it missed the opportunity to more closely look at the privacy and freedom concerns that the technology used in the movie raises. Especially in the current climate of terrorism paranoia in which people seem willing to trade all their freedom for the illusion of a tiny increase in safety.

Good mindless action though, if a little predictable (but then again that helps with the mindless part I guess).

Very predictable with the inclusion of almost every cliche a story about the relationships between teenage children and their parents. Even the plot was predictable almost to the scene. It would have been nice if they'd just thrown in a twist somewhere, just one... Girls playing soccer is not a twist obviously, and either are the homosexual references (in fact they are more cliche than the rest of the film).

Even so, it was great fun. Many humourous moments, some of them laugh out loud, but nothing to cause you to fall off your seat. My wife enjoyed it a lot, her culture has some aspects similar to the Indian culture presented in the film which caused us to exchange more than a few glances during some of the scenes.

Certainly worth seeing if you are in the mood for a feel good comedy.

My only real complaint is that the actor playing the coach makes him seem far too sleazy. Next time he might consider not trying to express every emotion known to man at once in just his face.
