One of the things I missed from Oz, is apparently no more anyway....
Over here you just can't get scotch and cola in a can, or vodka and sugary sparking water. in a bottle. Way back when those "fruity girly drinks" were my drink of choice when an entire bottle of scotch and another entire bottle of ginger ale wasn't practical. I've never really liked beer, and really dislike wine...
I've never seen them over here.
What I have seen is very similar looking bottles with names famous for spirits on them (Bacardi, Smirnoff) which are just sugared beer without the hops and spices. Apparently Australia is now cursed with those too.
Over here I guessed it was because you can sell beer in the supermarket (well varies state to state) and gas station, but you can't sell spirits.
They are crap compared with what I used to have in Australia.
The one upside is that there are "malted beverage" tea drinks. They are so good, it almost makes up for the fact that they sell "Bacardi Mojito" made from beer.
